-Handshake hypnotic inductions work on the principle of pattern interrupts. When a motor program has been initiated and then interrupted part way through there is a moment where the conscious mind becomes confused and goes on “hold”.
-From there you can drop any suggestion in and the other person will likely follow. The pattern interrupt has startled them into trance.
-This was modelled from Milton Erickson by Bandler and Grinder and has been used by Derren Brown and others who are masters of the mentalist and illusion arts. Richard Bandler has developed some new twists on the handshake interrupt, as Michael Watson demonstrates in this programme.
